Alan Russell is the father of Kaylie and Tim Russell and the husband of Marie Russell in Oculus. He was portrayed by Rory Cochrane.

Alan was a loving husband and father, until Marie bought an antique mirror and put it in Alan's office. He started to cheat on Marie with a ghost from the mirror, Marisol, disguised as a human. Under hallucinations from the mirror, he becomes psychotic with Marie, trying to kill the kids.

2002[]
When Alan moves into a new house with his wife and two kids, Alan purchases an antique mirror to decorate his office. The mirror induces hallucinations and Alan is seduced by a ghostly woman, Marisol, who has mirrors in place of eyes. Kaylie see's it one day and tells Marie. They fight, and then Marie tries to kill Kaylie and Tim, but is locked away by Alan. Later, he unchains her and Alan and Marie go to kill the kids together. Marie briefly comes to her senses, only to be shot dead by Alan. The kids try to destroy the mirror but it makes them believe they are hitting the mirror when they are actually hitting the wall. Alan also experiences a moment of lucidity and kills himself by forcing Tim to pull the trigger of the gun and shoot him. Before dying, he begs the children to run, but Marisol and other victims of the mirror appear as horrific ghosts. As Tim is taken away, he sees the ghosts of his parents watching him from the house. Kaylie goes to foster homes.
